Local Community Food Drive

Local Community Food Drive

For over 40 years, we at Seaside Communications have always been a strong supporter of our local food banks. Without them, many less fortunate within the communities we serve would go hungry. We’re proud to have been a driving force behind many local charity drives throughout the years, partnering with other local groups and the community at large.

Earlier this year, we announced a “21% More in ’21” commitment towards charities and sponsorship in our communities. This will be achieved through funding, time, and services, and we called on each of you for your added support. Now, with COVID-19 taking its financial toll on many families, our food banks are on the frontlines trying to keep up to the increased need, and so we need the support from our communities more than ever.

Together with the help of the Mickey's Original Six Hockey Tournament Society and other local groups, we're organizing a Local Community Food Drive for charities and food banks within five of our local communities:

  • • Glace Bay Food Bank Society
  • • St. Vincent de Paul Society St. Leonards Food Bank in New Waterford
  • • Caw Louisbourg Food Bank Society
  • • St. Peter's & Area Food Bank
  • • Helping Hands South of Smokey in Baddeck.

In addition to the food banks, drop box locations may become available within the various communities (please watch our Facebook page for details). There will be a drop box available at the Dominion District Community Centre during the Original Six hockey games and practices until March 31st, as well as the New Waterford and District Community Arena until March 31st.

Please consider donating for those less fortunate and most vulnerable in our communities today. Whether you can donate items of need such as frozen foods, canned foods, or laundry & personal hygiene items, or your contribution is monetary, it will be greatly appreciated.

2020 was hard on so many of us. We're now well into 2021 but we're not out of the woods yet. Let’s all do our part to stop hunger, as we make this a better and brighter year in 2021!
